When your Botox appointment is a few days away, stop taking ibuprofen, unless ordered by a doctor. Ibuprofen and aspirin are blood thinners. Taking these medications makes it harder for your blood to form blood clots, and it can increase the risk of bruising during a Botox appointment. 

Botox is injected directly into target muscles, but the needle has to pass through the skin to get there. If the needle touches a blood vessel, there’s a risk that it will bleed slightly under the skin and cause a bruise. Taking blood thinners can increase the risk of bleeding and bruising. 

## Other Things to Avoid Before Your Appointment
If you’re worried about bruising after your Botox appointment, there are a few other things to avoid before Botox. Don’t drink any alcohol for a few days before your appointment, and skip the green tea as well. Other items that might cause some blood thinning include fish oil, multivitamins, ginger, and cinnamon.

## Feeling Fuzzy After Botox
A common, and very brief, side effect of Botox is to feel momentarily lightheaded. If you get a Botox injection in a sensitive area, like on the forehead or along the nose, you may feel a slight swelling and a bit of dizziness or a headache. Within 5 to 10 minutes the fuzzy feeling dissipates, and you’ll feel completely fine.
